Peyriac de Mer / Bages
On the coastal plain of the Corbieres, bordering the lagoons (etangs) just south of Narbonne, home to our Mire la Mer.
This is ideal for Mourvédre, which likes deep damp clay soil and the moist air off the Mediterranean. The vines go down to the waters edge. It is a popular spot for the flamingos, who fly in at sunset.
We also have Carignan on the slopes leading up to the hills. This forms the backbone of our wine from here. Our best Carignan was planted in 1905. Just in front of the picture on the left is where we have our Terret vines, with views over the village of Bages. They were planted in 1902.
